Birth
Given the importance of this event, it is governed by a set of regulations concerning the declaration, the timeframe, and the method of establishing the birth certificate.
Who declares the birth?
One of the following individuals, in descending order of priority, is required to declare the birth:
- The father, first and foremost.
- The doctor or midwife.
- Any person who was present at the delivery.
- Any other person at whose place the woman gave birth.
When must the declaration be made?
The declaration must be made within the legal deadline set by the applicable regulations (generally within 5 days following the birth, excluding the day of birth).
Who receives the declarations?
Declarations are received by civil registry officers in the place of birth.
